As a psychiatrist at NYU Langone’s Center for Psychedelic Medicine, I am dedicated to advancing mental healthcare through innovative treatments and compassionate patient engagement. My work is driven by a humanistic approach that integrates psychotherapy and responsible medication management, aiming to treat clients from a holistic perspective.

At NYU Langone, I am also involved in research as a study therapist and sub-investigator on clinical trials exploring the impact of psilocybin and other psychedelics in treating conditions such as major depression and existential distress in patients who are terminally ill. Outside of NYU Langone, I am in private practice, where my expertise is in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, cultural psychiatry, women's mental health, and the intersection between spirituality and psychology. I have almost 15 years of experience in treating patients with histories of trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), among other conditions. Additionally, I have received training in internal family systems (IFS) and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. My commitment to fostering strong patient–provider partnerships ensures a positive and responsive care experience.

My work extends to training and education on psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, and I have been a speaker and panelist at various conferences and platforms. I am a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and completed my adult psychiatry residency and fellowship in psychosomatic medicine at NYU Langone. I am a graduate of the Program in Liberal Medical Education at Brown University, where I received my medical and bachelor of arts degrees. My early interest in storytelling influenced my decision to become a psychiatrist, allowing me to listen to people’s stories and help them reshape their narratives.

Research Summary

As a psychiatrist, my clinical research is focused on psychedelics and their effectiveness in treating psychiatric disorders such as major depression, existential distress in patients with terminal illness, and post-partum depression. I am an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at NYU and am deeply interested in the potential of psychedelics and psychedelic-assisted therapy as a powerful and holistic treatment in mental health.

After completing residency training and a fellowship in psychosomatic medicine at NYU, I worked in community mental health for a few years before returning to NYU Grossman School of Medicine in 2020 to join Dr. Stephen Ross’ team at the Center for Psychedelic Medicine as the Co-Investigator of a Phase 2 clinical trial investigating the impact of psilocybin on major depression. Since then, I have worked on multiple psychedelic clinical trials, most notably in a trial sponsored by the National Cancer Institute using psilocybin to treat existential distress in patients with stage 3 and 4 cancer and a Phase 3 trial using psilocybin to treat major depression. As a lead study therapist on these trials, I have also participated in education and training for psychedelic-assisted therapy."
