About Me
As a psychiatrist at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to providing comprehensive care that addresses the whole person, not just isolated symptoms or conditions. My role allows me to engage deeply with patients, understanding their unique experiences and challenges, which is why I find my work so fulfilling.
I am part of the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service and the Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) Service, where I strive to improve mental health outcomes for patients with complex medical needs. I specialize in treating psychiatric conditions within the context of medical and surgical hospitalizations, as well as managing severe and treatment-resistant mood disorders, catatonia, and other conditions responsive to ECT.
With over two decades of experience, I use advanced techniques, such as ultrabrief unilateral ECT, which are designed to be more memory-sparing. My commitment to patient care is reflected in my collaborative approach, working closely with a team to develop personalized treatment plans that involve patients, their families, and other healthcare providers.
Throughout my career, I have focused on the intersection of psychiatry and complex medical conditions. My research has explored the use of medications to treat mental health conditions in patients with heart conditions and examined trends in ECT availability across the United States. This work underscores my dedication to advancing the field and improving patient care.
My journey into psychiatry was inspired by a desire to understand and treat the whole person. I pursued my medical education with a focus on psychiatry, driven by the belief that mental health is integral to overall wellbeing. Receiving the Teacher of the Year Award for the NYU Psychiatry Residency has been one of the highlights of my career, affirming my commitment to education and mentorship. At NYU Langone, I am proud to be part of a team that prioritizes coordinated, seamless care for all our patients.
