About Me
As a psychiatrist at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to providing comprehensive care that addresses both physical and mental health. My fascination with the intricate ways in which the body and mind interact drives my holistic approach to patient care. I am passionate about making a meaningful difference in people’s lives by considering the emotional and psychological dimensions of health alongside physical ailments.
I specialize in consultation-liaison psychiatry, a field that allows me to engage directly with patients facing both medical and psychiatric challenges. With over a decade of experience, I have honed my skills in managing complex conditions such as severe suicide attempts requiring surgery, catatonia, and new-onset psychosis requiring autoimmune encephalitis work-up and treatment. My role involves collaborating with teams to ensure that mental health considerations are seamlessly integrated into medical treatment plans. This approach not only enhances patient care but also promotes better health outcomes.
Throughout my career, I have focused on proactive healthcare engagement, emphasizing the importance of mental health in overall wellness. My work at Bellevue’s Geriatric / Med-Psychiatry Unit involves providing enhanced nursing care for patients with severe medical and psychiatric needs. This includes managing conditions that require frequent IV fluids, wound care, and on-unit dialysis, among others. My commitment to patient engagement and responsiveness is evident in my dedication to creating individualized treatment plans and providing comprehensive support and education to empower patients in their decision-making process.
My journey into medicine began with a deep-seated interest in the mind-body connection and the profound impact of health on overall well-being. Psychiatry stood out to me for its emphasis on understanding the mind, emotions, and behavior within the context of physical health. My educational background includes extensive training in both medicine and psychiatry, and I have been recognized as a highly rated educator in the medical student psychiatry clerkship. This recognition reflects my commitment to quality patient care and my aspiration to be a role model in clinical education and training.
