Leigh E. Charvet, PhD

I am a clinical neuropsychologist whose practice specializes in interventional psychiatry, noninvasive brain stimulation, and the assessment and treatment of cognitive and neuropsychiatric symptoms associated with neurological and psychiatric disorders. My goal is to help patients optimize brain health through personalized, evidence-based care.

My work focuses on transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), a form of noninvasive brain stimulation, and on developing and translating technology-enabled treatments that improve brain health. My clinical and research programs are dedicated to expanding access to these therapies through innovative models of care, including supervised home-based treatment that integrates brain stimulation with cognitive rehabilitation and behavioral interventions.

I believe that effective treatment begins with understanding each person's unique symptoms, goals, and circumstances. My approach combines comprehensive evaluation with individualized treatment planning to address cognitive, emotional, and functional challenges. I work closely with each patient to develop practical, evidence-based treatment strategies tailored to their individual needs.

In addition to my clinical practice, I am professor of psychiatry and professor of neurology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, where I direct the NYU Langone tDCS Program and lead a clinical research program focused on developing and evaluating novel neuromodulation therapies for neurological and psychiatric disorders.
