Abhirami Vivekanandarajah, MD

I am a board-certified hematologist-oncologist with over six years of experience serving the Staten Island community. Dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care, I specialize in the treatment of both hematologic disorders and solid tumor malignancies.

My expertise spans a wide range of cancers, including lung, prostate, breast, melanoma, and gastrointestinal cancers, as well as hematological malignancies such as multiple myeloma, chronic myelogenous leukemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and myelodysplastic syndrome. I also evaluate and manage benign hematologic conditions, including anemia, hypercoagulable states, and bleeding disorders.

I completed my undergraduate studies in human biology at the University of Toronto before earning my medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine. I went on to complete my residency in internal medicine—serving as chief resident—and my fellowship in hematology-oncology at Staten Island University Hospital, where I also acted as chief fellow.

An accomplished researcher, I have numerous publications in prestigious hematology and oncology journals and have received recognition for my contributions to clinical research, including the Fellow Physician Research Award. I have also authored two chapters in Netter’s Integrated Review of Medicine.

I speak English, Tamil, Hindi, and Urdu, which allows me to connect with patients from diverse backgrounds. Outside of medicine, I enjoy teaching violin and vocal lessons, skiing, cooking, traveling, exercising, and spending quality time with my family.
