Neha A. Sathe, MD

I am a pulmonary and critical care physician-scientist dedicated to improving patient outcomes during critical illness through both clinical practice and innovative research. Clinically, I serve as an attending physician in the medical intensive care unit at NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where I focus on treating patients facing life-threatening conditions. This work resonates with me because of its potential to save lives and to provide dignity and compassion for patients and their families, even in the most challenging circumstances.

My work in the intensive care unit blends evidence-based medicine with individualized care. I am mindful of the human side of each patient's journey as I work to deliver the highest standard of care tailored to their unique needs. Achieving this requires close collaboration with a team of nurses, respiratory therapists, specialists, and families to make high-stakes clinical decisions.

My research program seeks to advance precision medicine in the intensive care unit—specifically through creating individualized strategies for managing acute respiratory failure and sepsis. I lead studies at NYU Langone and Bellevue that integrate clinical data, radiologic imaging, and noninvasive immune profiling using artificial intelligence and other novel computational approaches. By integrating these data into new multimodal markers for diagnosis and risk-stratification, I intend to facilitate clinical decision-making and uncover new treatments.

My hope is that this work at the bedside and in the lab translates into lasting improvements in how we care for critically ill patients.
