About Me
In medical school, I was drawn to psychiatry as a specialty when I saw that being helpful to patients means knowing them as people as much as it means knowing what to prescribe. Now trained as a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, I see adults with mood and anxiety disorders and interpersonal difficulties. I aim to tailor my approach to the specific needs of each patient: some people benefit from medications, some from psychotherapy or psychoanalysis, and Iβm able to provide both, as necessary and guided by patient preference.
I received my medical degree from Harvard, in the combined Harvard-MIT department of Health Sciences and Technology, then completed psychiatry residency at Cornell and analytic training at the New York Psychoanalytic Society & Institute (NYPSI). My work at NYU Langone started with psychiatry consultations in the emergency department, and I am now the director of the NYU Langone resident outpatient practice at 1 Park Avenue. I also continue to be involved in teaching analytic candidates at NYPSI.
In my therapy work, I have found that having wide interests β in science, mathematics, literature, and the arts, among others β has often been helpful in being able to connect with patients and to follow peopleβs thoughts wherever they may lead.
