About Me
Emergency Medicine often feels like organized chaos, requiring a balance between patient care, education, research, and leadership. Amid rising demands, limited resources, and a unique patient population, my primary goal as an emergency medicine physician at NYU Langone remains clear: to prioritize each patient. My dedication to improving clinical operations reflects this commitment, as I seek innovative strategies to enhance quality of care, patient safety, resident education, and staff satisfaction within our academic emergency department.
My leadership roles have allowed me to make significant contributions. Some notable achievements include achieving American College of Surgeons Level 1 trauma center verification, optimizing patient flow across three sites, establishing a multilingual discharge center, developing an emergency department (ED) electronic medical record (EMR) system implemented in 10 hospital EDs, operationalizing Bellevue’s first freestanding ED after Hurricane Sandy, and leading the departmental operations through Ebola outbreaks and the recent covid pandemic response. Currently, as service chief of All Emergency Services at Bellevue Hospital and chair of the Emergency Medicine Council for H+H Central Office, I am privileged to advocate for system-wide improvements that advance patient care on a regional level.
While clinical operations are a primary focus, I am equally dedicated to the academic missions of teaching, scholarship, and research. Our departments not only deliver top-tier patient care but also foster a dynamic learning environment that supports diverse groups of learners. My teaching approach prioritizes both the unique needs of each learner and the individual patient, considering the complex social factors that often lead patients to seek care in the ED. Driven by a desire to integrate technology and improve care, my research interests have focused on integration of new technology to enhance each of our mission pillars.
