Christopher L. Clayton, MD

As a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at Bellevue and NYU Grossman School of Medicine, I am dedicated to advocating for individuals and families facing health challenges. Psychiatry allows me to focus on the whole person, meeting patients where they are in their health journeys. I find immense fulfillment in collaborating with clients to define and advance their own goals for health and wellbeing.

I specialize in medical-psychiatry, working full-time as an attending on the 12S medical–psychiatry inpatient teaching unit. My expertise lies in managing complex psychiatric conditions, particularly those intertwined with chronic medical issues.

Completing my M.D. at Columbia Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, a master’s in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and residency training in psychiatry at NYU, I bring to my practice a robust background in health systems improvement and clinical instruction. Each day, I have the privilege of working closely with patients and trainees, combining my passion for medical education and public psychiatry to provide individualized care for patients from all backgrounds.
