Emily T. Cohen, MD

As an emergency medicine physician at NYU Langone, I provide comprehensive and compassionate care to all patients who come through our doors. My passion for emergency medicine began in medical school when I discovered the unique opportunity to care for individuals of all ages and with a wide range of medical conditions. The fast-paced environment of the emergency department allows me to make a significant impact on patients’ lives, often during their most critical moments.

I specialize in emergency medicine and medical toxicology, with extensive training and experience in managing poisoned patients. After completing my residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, I pursued a fellowship in medical toxicology at NYU Langone, where I further honed my skills. As the associate program director of NYU Langone’s Medical Toxicology Fellowship, I support fellows in their educational endeavors and actively participate in the Division of Medical Toxicology’s consult service.

Throughout my career, I have balanced bedside care with academic and educational roles. My research focuses on toxicologic causes of hyperthermia and alcoholic ketoacidosis, contributing to the broader medical community’s understanding of these conditions. This blend of clinical practice, education, and research ensures that I remain engaged and responsive to the evolving needs of my patients, fostering strong partnerships and a positive patient experience.
