Ravi K. Kesari, MD

As a dedicated hospitalist at NYU Langone, my passion for science and commitment to making a tangible difference in patients' lives drive my practice. My care philosophy is built on three core principles: holistic care, patient-centeredness, and collaboration. I aim to provide compassionate, high-quality care that respects each patient's individuality and promotes their overall wellbeing. Being directly involved in a patient's journey from illness to recovery, offering both medical expertise and emotional support, brings me immense fulfillment.

My specialty is in managing a range of acute medical conditions affecting adults. These include infectious diseases, cardiovascular and respiratory issues, gastrointestinal disorders, renal and electrolyte imbalances, and endocrinopathies. My expertise is in the diverse and often complex nature of patients admitted to the hospital, ensuring each patient receives care tailored to their specific needs.

I've developed a keen interest in health equity and social determinants of health. This interest is influenced by my personal experiences as a gay person of color from an economically precarious background. I've given grand rounds lectures on the correlation between low infant birth weight and developing metabolic syndrome as an adult, and the relationship between minority stress and epigenetic predisposition to chronic disease.

My fascination with the intricacies of the human body and the science behind its functions inspired my journey into medicine. I chose hospital medicine because it allows me to be on the front lines of patient care, working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. In addition to my clinical work, I serve as a clinical co-chair of the LGBTQ+ advisory council at NYU Langone and as a Merrin Master Clinician Fellow developing health equity curriculum for the Division of Hospital Medicine. These roles allow me to continually improve inclusion, fairness, and safety for all patients and staff at NYU Langone.
