Paula J. Prezioso, MD

As the daughter of a New York City teacher and police officer, I learned the importance of serving others at a young age. In high school, I volunteered as a candy striper in the pediatric ward of a hospital. I enjoyed watching the doctors and nurses interact with patients and their families, and I decided to become a doctor. Pediatrics appealed to me because children are resilient, and I wanted to make a difference in their lives.

I care for children from birth through college. I monitor their growth and development and perform physical exams and immunizations. I explain developmental milestones and offer advice on everything from toilet training to coping with stress.

I diagnose serious medical conditions, such as diabetes, asthma, and heart disease, and coordinate patients’ care with specialists. I also care for children who have a behavioral problem or learning disability.

It is rewarding to watch a patient grow up and bring their own child to me. I care for many generations of families. I am currently caring for the grandchildren of some of my patients.

I have been included in Castle Connolly’s “Top Doctors” series for the New York metro area and in New York Magazine’s “Best Doctors in New York” issue. In addition, I am a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
