Research My Research
Research Summary
I chose Emergency Medicine because it sits at the intersection of urgency, compassion, and problem solving. In the Emergency Department, people arrive at some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives, often without a clear diagnosis or plan. As a board-certified Emergency Medicine physician at NYU Langone, I care for patients with a wide range of medical needs, from serious, time-sensitive conditions to concerns that require careful evaluation and clear guidance. I practice at Tisch Hospital and Cobble Hill, where I focus on providing thorough, efficient care and making sure patients understand their diagnosis, their options, and their next steps. Alongside my clinical work, I completed NYU’s Emergency Healthcare Leadership and Operations fellowship and earned a Master of Public Administration from the NYU Wagner School of Public Service. This training prepared me to evaluate and improve how healthcare systems and public policy affect access, quality, and equity, and to help design Emergency Departments that better meet patients’ real needs.
I was born in Colombia and raised in Florida, experiences that taught me early how language, culture, and access to care can shape a patient’s experience. I later trained at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, a high-volume Level 1 trauma center, where I served as chief resident and chaired the department’s diversity committee. Those experiences, along with my work across New York City Emergency Departments including Bellevue, shaped my commitment to equitable, patient-centered care and to building teams that reflect and support the communities they serve. My goal is for every patient to feel heard, respected, and cared for. Whether someone needs immediate treatment or guidance on what to do next, I strive to provide care that is grounded in clinical excellence, empathy, and trust.
