Erica Sneider, MD

I am a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon dedicated to improving patients’ health and enhancing their quality of life. My practice focuses exclusively on colon and rectal surgery, with expertise in managing anorectal conditions such as rectal bleeding, hemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal pain, anorectal abscesses and fistulas, pruritus ani, pilonidal disease, fecal incontinence, anal condyloma, and anal cancer. In addition, I treat a range of lower gastrointestinal (GI) tract issues including diarrhea, constipation, diverticular disease, colon cancer, and inflammatory bowel disease. I specialize in performing colonoscopy for screening and diagnostic purposes, offering comprehensive care for a broad spectrum of colorectal conditions.

Raised on Long Island, I attended Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts, where I was a competitive swimmer and graduated cum laude in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in biology and a minor in chemistry. I earned my medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medicine in 2006, where my passion for colon and rectal surgery was sparked by mentorship from Michael Moseson, MD. I completed my general surgery residency at the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine in Worcester (2006–2013), followed by a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery (2014) at the same institution.

Returning to Long Island after fellowship, I initially practiced general and colorectal surgery before transitioning to an exclusively colorectal surgery practice. In 2015, I joined ProHealth Care alongside an established group of colorectal surgeons. Today, I continue to provide specialized colorectal care to the local community at NYU Langone Health.

I am committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. I feel privileged to assist individuals experiencing symptoms that may be sensitive or challenging to discuss. I am dedicated to identifying the root causes of discomfort, devising customized treatment plans, and improving patients’ lives through effective care. My offerings include office-based procedures such as rubber band ligation, infrared coagulation, injection sclerotherapy, and incision and drainage of abscesses. Helping patients achieve meaningful relief is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.

I foster a welcoming environment where patients feel supported, understand their options, and are empowered throughout their care journey. I see patients of all ages starting at 14, prioritizing timely appointments for acute concerns. My thoughtful approach ensures I treat each patient with the same care and compassion I would extend to a family member.
