Ahmer Salman, DO

As an emergency medicine doctor at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island, I am committed to providing exceptional care to my patients. I am passionate about being at the forefront, addressing a variety of health concerns. My approach is straightforward: I treat my patients and their families with the same care and respect I would want for my own, aiming to make their emergency room visit as smooth and reassuring as possible.

I specialize in treating a wide range of urgent health issues in adults, including infections, heart irregularities, abdominal conditions, toxicological disorders, and traumatic injuries. I am also board-certified to care for patients of all ages, including children and teens. My comprehensive experience and training equip me to perform a range of procedures, from simple wound repair to more complex procedures like spinal fluid sampling (lumbar puncture), fluid removal from the abdomen (paracentesis), or placing a breathing tube (endotracheal intubation).

My career path into medicine was inspired by the compassionate and knowledgeable care doctors provided to my family members. This experience, combined with my desire to be at the cutting edge of healthcare, led me to pursue a career in emergency medicine. In addition to caring for patients, I am a full-time faculty member of emergency medicine residency and a clinical assistant professor of emergency medicine at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine.

Over the course of my career, I have encountered a diverse range of patients and health concerns. From delivering babies in unexpected places to diagnosing heart attacks and managing multiple traumas, I have cultivated an unmatched dedication to my profession.
