Matthew A. Lucks, MD

As a board-certified cardiologist specializing in general and preventive cardiology, I am dedicated to helping patients reduce cardiovascular risk through evidence-based prevention, early detection, and comprehensive management of heart disease. My approach revolves around personalized care and partnering with patients using a shared decision-making model to optimize heart health and improve long-term outcomes and longevity.

Originally from New York, I earned my medical degree at SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse, followed by completing my internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital in 2005.

During my training, I developed a profound appreciation for compassionate, patient-centered care and the importance of empowering patients through education. For me, excellent medical care goes beyond diagnosis and treatment, and this commitment was recognized with awards such as the Humanism and Medicine Award, the James Morgan Award for Outstanding Resident Teaching, and a Fellowship Teaching Award.

I began my cardiology career in 2005 with San Diego Cardiovascular Associates and Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, California. There, I refined my approach to care by listening attentively, building meaningful relationships, and appreciating that each patient brings unique experiences, concerns, and priorities to their care.

I believe patients deserve thoughtful, evidence-based medical guidance along with the time and support to understand their health and feel confident in the decisions they make. In 2018, I returned to the East Coast to be closer to family and joined Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Virginia, as a clinical and preventive cardiologist. My focus remained on individualized care, comprehensive cardiovascular risk reduction, and addressing the underlying factors contributing to cardiovascular disease.

I am excited to bring my experience and passion for preventive cardiology to NYU Langone Medical Associates—Palm Beach County. It is an honor to collaborate with a team that shares my commitment to providing thoughtful, compassionate, and comprehensive care. My goal is to help patients feel heard, informed, and empowered to make health decisions that support better cardiovascular health, preserve their quality of life, and enable them to enjoy longer, healthier lives.
