Walter I. Weiss, MD

As an anesthesiologist at NYU Langone Hospital–Long Island, I am dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-provider care. My journey into medicine began with an undergraduate degree in psychology and master’s studies in developmental neuroanatomy, which fueled my passion for understanding the human body. I found my calling in anesthesiology, drawn to its intricate application of physiology and the immediate impact it has on patient care.

I specialize in pediatric anesthesiology, a field I was introduced to during my second year of residency. Over the past 30 years, I have focused on caring for some of the smallest and most vulnerable patients on Long Island. My team and I are at the forefront of regional anesthetic techniques and minimal narcotic usage, ensuring the safest and most effective pain management for our young patients. My extensive training, coupled with three decades of experience, have equipped me with the skills necessary to handle complex cases with precision and empathy.

Throughout my career, I have been committed to proactive healthcare engagement, fostering strong partnerships with pediatric surgical specialties and intensive care units. This collaborative approach ensures seamless, coordinated care for our patients. Leading the Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology at NYU Langone Hospital–Long Island, I am proud of the highly skilled and dedicated specialists I work alongside. Together, we strive to provide the highest standard of care, always prioritizing the well-being of our patients and their families.
