Esther Perez, PhD

I am a licensed clinical psychologist at NYU Langone dedicated to helping individuals and couples navigate challenges, heal from difficult experiences, and rediscover a sense of hope, purpose, and fulfillment. My work focuses on addressing the unique concerns that bring people to therapy while equipping them with practical skills and lasting tools for long-term well-being. One of the most meaningful aspects of my practice is witnessing clients build resilience, gain confidence, and create transformative change in their lives.

I specialize in treating trauma-related disorders, anxiety, mood disorders, substance use, and relationship challenges. My approach integrates evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), emotionally focused therapy (EFT), mindfulness-based interventions, and harm reduction strategies. Additionally, I have advanced training in trauma-focused treatments including cognitive processing therapy (CPT), prolonged exposure (PE), written exposure therapy (WET), and Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR).

Recognizing that meaningful change is deeply rooted in the therapeutic relationship, I strive to create a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered. I work collaboratively with individuals and couples in both English and Spanish, tailoring culturally responsive, individualized treatment plans to meet each person's unique needs. As part of NYU Langone’s multidisciplinary team, I ensure access to comprehensive and integrated care through coordination with other providers when appropriate.
