Soma Pathak, MD

As an emergency medicine physician at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to providing compassionate care in the fast-paced environment of the emergency department. Growing up in East Elmhurst, Queens, I developed a strong sense of duty to care for those around me, which has been a driving force throughout my career. I am passionate about making an immediate and lasting impact on patients’ lives during their times of critical need.

I specialize in emergency medicine, where I diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions, often in life-threatening situations. With extensive training from Albany Medical College and years of experience in the field, I thrive in the dynamic environment of the emergency room (ER), where rapid thinking and compassionate care intersect. My commitment to patient care is rooted in the belief that every patient’s story deserves to be heard and respected. I strive to build trust by listening, explaining conditions and treatment plans clearly, and ensuring patients feel involved in their healthcare journey.

Throughout my career, I have focused on proactive healthcare engagement and the importance of hands-on training. I am particularly proud of my work in developing and implementing in-situ trauma simulations, which allow our emergency and trauma teams to practice trauma management in real clinical spaces. This training improves the efficiency of care during actual emergencies and strengthens teamwork and communication within the medical team.

My journey into medicine was inspired by an innate curiosity for science and a deep desire to help people. I am committed to serving populations that need care the most, and my approach to care is always holistic, collaborative, and patient-focused. Whether treating a patient in the ER, leading a trauma resuscitation, or overseeing the training of medical teams, my commitment is to quality, compassionate care.
