Yaakov S. Green, MD

As a psychiatrist at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to ensuring every patient has access to the full spectrum of modern psychiatric care. I specialize in medication management and interventional psychiatry, including transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), esketamine (Spravato), home-use transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), and neurofeedback. My expertise centers on treating adults with mood and anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, and ADHD, with a particular focus on helping those for whom traditional treatments have been insufficient. I am deeply committed to exploring innovative, brain-based approaches that offer renewed hope for recovery.

My interest in interventional psychiatry was sparked by witnessing patients achieve relief after prolonged struggles. Advances in neuroscience have identified specific brain networks that may impede recovery, even with optimal care. Interventional psychiatry translates these scientific breakthroughs into clinical practice by engaging neural circuits that medications may not always target. Through comprehensive evaluations, I design personalized treatment plans that integrate medications, talk therapy, and/or interventional modalities to address each patient’s unique needs.

Recognizing that each individual’s journey to seek care—and their definition of recovery—is deeply personal, I strive to understand the goals of every patient on their own terms. I educate patients about available options and collaborate with them to chart a meaningful path forward.

I earned my MD and MBA from Yale University and completed my psychiatry and interventional psychiatry training at Columbia University, where I served as chief resident and was honored with the Academy of Clinical Excellence Award. I am the founder of the Interventional Psychiatry Consortium, a global network of nearly 1,000 clinicians and trainees dedicated to advancing education in this evolving field.
