As a clinical psychologist at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to helping patients live according to their values. While I am a generalist, I have particular expertise in anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma, and LGBTQ mental health. I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help patients learn to change negative thinking patterns and unhelpful behaviors. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and centered on measurable progress.

In terms of my training and experience, I completed my PhD in clinical psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in an American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited program under the mentorship of Debra Hope, PhD. I completed an APA-accredited internship at the Boston Consortium in Clinical Psychology, where my major rotation was in the Behavioral Science Division within the National Center for PTSD at the VA Boston Healthcare System. While on internship, I maintained academic appointments as a clinical fellow in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and a teaching fellow in psychiatry at Boston University School of Medicine. I also completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship at the National Center for PTSD Dissemination and Training Division, part of the Stanford University School of Medicine and the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, working primarily with Marylene Cloitre, PhD.

Before joining NYU Langone, I was an assistant professor at Georgia Southern University, where I taught and provided mentorship within the doctoral program in clinical psychology. I was also the director and clinical supervisor for two specialty clinics: the Anxiety Clinic, serving community members with anxiety and related disorders, and the Prism Clinic, serving members of the sexual and gender minority community. I was then an assistant professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, providing evidence-based psychotherapy for individuals identifying as LGBTQ and/or with HIV with a variety of presenting conditions, as well as supervising psychology interns and teaching interns, fellows, and medical residents.

Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in teaching and training undergraduates, post-baccalaureate students, graduate students, interns, postdoctoral fellows, and residents. I have also co-taught half- and full-day clinical workshops for practicing clinicians, both locally and at international conferences.

I have also been involved in a variety of research endeavors that align with my clinical interests. My research activities are driven by a desire to improve mental health services for underserved populations, particularly for sexual and gender minorities. My research has primarily focused on evidence-based, patient-centered treatment for PTSD and related conditions, particularly anxiety disorders, and using various technologies such as videoconferencing, mobile apps, and web-based interventions to increase access to care and maximize the efficiency of interventions.

At NYU Langone, I collaborate with a diverse team to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for my patients. I am committed to supporting my patients and helping them make meaningful changes in their lives.
