Nabeel Hashmi, MD

As an attending physician in the Division of Neonatology at NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, I provide compassionate, evidence-based, and family-centered care to critically ill newborns while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to achieve the best possible outcomes for my patients and their families.

I completed my pediatric residency at UMass Chan–Baystate and my fellowship training in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Tufts Medical Center, with additional clinical training at Boston Children’s Hospital in both the NICU and cardiac intensive care unit.

My academic interests focus on neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) and improving outcomes for infants who undergo therapeutic hypothermia. My research includes investigating outcomes in late-preterm infants treated with therapeutic hypothermia and collaborating with bioinformatics teams on artificial intelligence–based predictive modeling to assess MRI severity in neonates with HIE.

I am passionate about advancing neonatal care through clinical excellence, education, research, and a collaborative approach to caring for newborns and their families.
