Research Summary
Dr. Rachel Kupferberg is a postdoctoral fellow at the Child Study Center, part of Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone, where she serves on the organizational skills training and selective mutism service. She graduated with her doctorate in clinical psychology (PsyD) from Long Island University-Post. Here, Dr. Kupferberg’s doctoral research examined an intensive group behavioral treatment for adolescents with selective mutism. In addition, she completed her APA-accredited predoctoral internship at Mount Sinai Services at Elmhurst Hospital Center, utilizing evidence-based therapies with children, adolescents, and young adults with trauma-related anxiety, mood, and disruptive behavior disorders within an inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, and psychiatric emergency room setting.
Dr. Kupferberg has previous clinical training experiences working with children and adolescents at Nassau University Medical Center and NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. In addition, Dr. Kupferberg completed a clinical externship at Kurtz Psychology, where she extensively trained in working with children and adolescents with anxiety disorders, specifically selective mutism and social anxiety, disruptive behavior disorders, and their parents. Dr. Kupferberg is certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and PCIT for Selective Mutism (PCIT-SM). Dr. Kupferberg completed her undergraduate studies at Binghamton University.
