About Me
As a gastroenterologist at NYU Langone, I manage both standard and complex general gastroenterological and endoscopic issues in both ambulatory and inpatient settings. I have additional expertise in advanced therapeutic endoscopy, utilizing interventional endoscopic techniques involving the bile ducts, liver, and pancreas.
I provide comprehensive, tailored, and compassionate care to each patient. Thinking “outside the box” and challenging established diagnoses is central to my philosophy of care, especially when approaching complex interdisciplinary cases and medically challenging patients. Throughout my career, I have developed close relationships with referral centers, and work closely with NYU Langone International Patient Services to provide clinical care in the US and abroad.
In addition to my clinical background, I also completed a PhD in immunology, which informs my interest in inflammatory and eosinophilic GI disorders. I also specialize in small intestinal disease and the use of minimally invasive modalities including video capsule endoscopy.
I have served on the faculty at local and national meetings and have delivered lectures regionally and nationally. Additionally, I serve on national committees within the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). I am also active in other professional societies such as the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) and the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG).
My interests also focus on novel diagnostics and therapeutics, including cancer screening and early detection and the use of artificial intelligence in identifying abnormal lesions in the colon and small intestine. I am interested in biologic therapies for allergic and inflammatory disorders and work as a researcher on both topics in multi-center trials.
I am also actively involved in education, teaching medical students and residents, and am involved in the training of gastroenterology and advanced interventional endoscopy fellows. For the latter, I also served as founding program director.
As director of GI Quality and Strategic Initiatives, I work to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of patient care. I am active on committees, including the Quality Assurance Committee, our Divisional Leadership Group, and in outpatient endoscopic unit leadership. I also serve on the NYU Langone Institutional Review Board, where I assess the scientific merit of research studies and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Together, my clinical, academic, and educational experiences continue to drive my passion for striving to advance our field with our colleagues here at NYU Langone.

Research My Research
Research Summary
My specific research interests include diseases of the bile ducts and pancreas, interventional endoscopy, and the diagnosis and management of small intestine diseases, using both noninvasive imaging technologies and direct endoscopic evaluation. I work closely with my colleagues in this capacity as an attending physician in interventional endoscopy within the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the Center for Advanced Therapeutics and Innovation. I also enjoy managing both standard and complex general gastroenterological and endoscopic issues in a wide variety of patients in the ambulatory, hospital, and intensive care settings.
In the context of these interests, I have served on the faculty at local and national meetings and in hands-on procedural training courses, and have delivered lectures regionally and nationally in my areas of focus. I publish actively in these areas, as well as on topics within general gastroenterology.
I am actively involved in medical education and very much enjoy teaching medical students; I have lectured in and recently codirected the gastroenterology section of the introductory medical school course on clinical medicine. I also teach medical residents and am particularly focused on the teaching and procedural training of fellows in the division’s gastroenterology and advanced interventional endoscopy fellowship programs. For the latter, I served as the founding program director. I have also served as codirector of the NYU Langone Seminars in Gastroenterology course, which has featured local and national faculty and serves to provide medical practice updates to physicians in academic and community practice.
Recently, I have become more involved in studying and improving the delivery of high-quality healthcare. In my role as director of gastrointestinal quality and strategic initiatives for the Preston Robert Tisch Center for Men’s Health and the Joan H. Tisch Center for Women’s Health, I work with colleagues to coordinate initiatives to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare. My colleagues and I also strive to streamline multidisciplinary approaches to care that involve our gastroenterology services, including how they can interface with other specialties to optimize patient safety and wellbeing, as well as the efficiency and overall experience of patient care.
My clinical, academic, and educational experiences continue to drive my passion for medicine. This is a particularly exciting and energizing time to be involved in the many efforts and accomplishments at NYU Langone.
