Mariya Rozenfeld, DO

I am a board-certified obstetrician–gynecologist and an assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYU Langone.

Throughout my medical career, I have been active in teaching medical students and residents, drawing from my background in education. I continue to blend my love for education as a clinical preceptor for medical students, obstetrics-gynecology residents, and nurse practitioners in women’s health with my commitment to patient care.

My comprehensive care extends from adolescence to the late menopausal years, covering condition such as abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, breast health concerns, vaginal infections, and vulvar conditions, including rare conditions such as lichen sclerosis. I also focus on cancer screening and prevention, cervical cancer screening and human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccination education, STD prevention, screening and treatment, and preconception counseling. I see patients for evaluation, diagnosis, and management of symptoms due to fibroids and endometriosis.

I educate my patients regarding contraceptive options (both hormonal and nonhormonal), including longer term contraception with intrauterine devices (IUDs).

In the office, I am able to offer procedures such as IUD placement and removal, vulvar biopsies for investigating new or changing skin lesions, colposcopy for investigating cervical tissue abnormalities, loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) for treatment of cervical precancerous cells, uterine lining biopsy for abnormal bleeding with menses and postmenopausal bleeding, and office hysteroscopy to investigate in more depth causes of abnormal uterine bleeding. I strive to make these procedures as efficient and as comfortable as possible for patients.

As a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP), I specialize in midlife women’s health, focusing on managing the menopause transition and postmenopausal care. This includes addressing vasomotor symptoms such as hot flashes, sleep disturbances, and brain fog, as well as vulvovaginal and genitourinary symptoms such as vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, and recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs). Additionally, I assist patients with sexual health concerns, including low libido, painful sex, decreased arousal, and the inability to orgasm.

I am a proud member of the Menopause Society and a member of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health.

Another passion of mine is educating patients about availability of hereditary cancer genetic testing and its benefits in estimating individual risks for malignancies, empowering patients to make informed decisions about their health and improving their overall wellbeing.

As a gynecologist at NYU Langone, I prioritize the unique needs and goals of each patient through shared decision-making, taking into consideration their fears, concerns, preferences and goals, rather than targeting a list of symptoms.

Throughout my career, my accomplishments have been recognized by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine with the Medical Student Teaching Awards, an administrative chief resident award from Mount Sinai Beth Israel, an excellence award for laparoscopic skills, and the Blumenthal Research Award. My work has also been recognized by Castle Connolly’s “Top Doctors” series and Super Doctors’ Rising Stars, both for the New York area.
