I have always been fascinated by science and drawn to the opportunity to connect with people and learn about their unique experiences. When I chose rheumatology as my specialty, it was largely because rheumatic diseases are complex, often affecting multiple organ systems. This complexity demands a holistic approach to care and close collaboration with patients, which I really value. I enjoy working with patients to piece together the puzzle of their symptoms, arrive at an accurate diagnosis, and develop an effective treatment plan. Since many rheumatic diseases are chronic, I also appreciate the chance to build lasting relationships with my patients over time.

For me, the foundation of good care starts with truly listening. I respect that every patient is unique, so I take the time to understand each individual’s needs and work to create treatment plans that are both effective and realistic for their daily lives. When a new patient comes to see me, I carefully review their case with a fresh perspective, asking questions and evaluating their condition in detail. My goal is always to combine a thorough clinical approach with the latest scientific evidence to deliver personalized, evidence-based care.

My clinical focus is on systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and I’m proud to be a part of NYU Langone Health’s dedicated lupus program. In addition to providing comprehensive care, our team offers eligible patients the chance to participate in research studies and clinical trials aimed at improving our understanding of lupus and developing new treatment approaches. These opportunities allow us to bridge the gap between science and patient care, giving patients access to innovative therapies while advancing the field as a whole.

As both a physician and a researcher, much of my work focuses on understanding the biological mechanisms of lupus and identifying new biomarkers that could improve diagnosis and treatment. Collaborating with other lupus experts at NYU Langone, our team explores a wide range of topics, from better characterizing the clinical features of lupus to uncovering the immune pathways that drive the disease. By integrating research and clinical care, I am committed to translating scientific discoveries into better outcomes for my patients.
