George Ru, MD

As a pediatric intensivist at NYU Langone, I am honored to care for children at an especially vulnerable time in their lives. The resilience of children drew me to this field, and I am privileged to work with the strong team at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital, part of NYU Langone, to provide equitable and safe patient care. My professional approach is centered on delivering compassionate care, ensuring that each child receives the best possible treatment during critical moments.

In the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), we treat children who are critically ill with a wide range of medical complexities, including organ failure, sepsis, severe seizures, and provide postoperative care. Our team is proficient in using advanced medical technologies such as mechanical ventilation, dialysis, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). This expertise allows us to manage and stabilize the most severe conditions, providing comprehensive care tailored to each child’s needs.

Throughout my career, I have focused on quality improvement and patient safety. My additional training in these areas enables me to create and facilitate projects that enhance our health systems, ensuring that patient care remains at the forefront of our practice. I am also dedicated to teaching and mentoring trainees, fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals with a strong foundation in these critical skills. At NYU Langone, I am proud to be part of a team that shares my dedication to providing exceptional care for our youngest patients.
