Aiden R. Shapiro, MD

As an emergency medicine physician at NYU Langone, I pride myself on providing high-quality care to diverse patient populations in a fast-paced, team-based environment. A long stint as an amateur rugby player has given me the tools to be an effective team player and provide care and comfort to my patients in their hardest moments.

I am board-certified in emergency medicine and have a special academic interest in LGBT health. Being a part of the LGBTQ+ community has informed my practice in many ways and helps me to connect with diverse patients from various backgrounds. I have also been involved in LGBTQ-specific education and training throughout our hospital systems with both resident physicians and other hospital staff. In 2024, I was honored to receive the “Clinical Attending of the Year” award from the emergency department resident physicians for my commitment to teaching and mentorship in the department.

I provide care at NYU Langone and Ronald O. Perelman Center for Emergency Services sites, as well as the Samuels Orthopedic Immediate Care Center and NYU Langone Virtual Urgent Care. I primarily work as a nocturnist, specializing in overnight care in the emergency department. Throughout my clinical sites, I prioritize efficient and empathetic care for all my patients.
