Anna Shor, MD

NYU Langone Provider
  • Specialties: Neuromuscular Medicine, Neurology
  • Treats: Adults
  • Language: English

As a board-certified neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to protecting patients' neurologic function during complex surgical procedures. My role involves closely collaborating with a diverse team of surgeons, including neurosurgeons, vascular surgeons, ear, nose, throat, and mouth (ENT) specialists, orthopedic spine surgeons, plastic surgeons, and anesthesiologists. Together, we ensure the safety of our patients' neurologic functions, providing coordinated care.

I specialize in intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring (IONM), using advanced techniques such as somatosensory evoked potentials, motor evoked potentials, brainstem auditory evoked responses, electromyography, direct cortical stimulation, and D-waves. These methods enable me to monitor neural integrity in real time, swiftly identifying potential risks and supporting surgical teams in making informed decisions. My expertise in IONM adds a critical layer of protection, ultimately fostering better outcomes for our patients.

Throughout my career, I have focused on honing my skills and methodologies to enhance patient safety during surgery. By leveraging innovative monitoring techniques, I am able to provide real-time feedback that is crucial for the success of complex surgical procedures. My commitment to proactive healthcare engagement ensures that patients receive the highest standard of care.

My passion for neurology is deeply influenced by a family legacy of medicine, spanning four generations of dedicated physicians. At the heart of this legacy is my grandfather, a highly esteemed neuropsychiatrist who received his medical education in Austria before World War II. His exemplary career and dedication to the power of empathy and intellect in medicine remain my greatest inspiration, guiding my journey into the field of neurology.
