About Me
As one of NYU Langone’s dual-boarded neuropsychiatrists, I draw on my training in neurology and psychiatry to provide comprehensive care that addresses both the neurological and psychiatric aspects of brain disorders. My professional approach is rooted in understanding patients as a whole person, integrating their unique life experiences and personal goals into their treatment plan. This holistic perspective is essential for delivering person-centered care, especially for patients with complex brain–behavior disorders.
I specialize in behavioral neurology and neuropsychiatry, focusing on treating patients who have experienced neurologic injuries. My expertise includes managing cognitive and behavioral changes that arise from brain injuries, and I provide consultations for these complex conditions. As the director of behavioral neurology at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital, I work closely with a team to ensure that each patient receives coordinated and comprehensive care.
Throughout my career, I have emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration. I work alongside physiatrists, rehabilitation nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech–language pathologists, neuropsychologists, and social workers to address the multifaceted needs of our patients. This team-based approach allows us to develop and implement effective treatment plans that improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
My educational journey began with a deep interest in the intersection of neurology and psychiatry, leading me to pursue combined residency training in psychiatry and neurology at NYU. I am board-certified in both specialties, and I have subspecialty certifications in behavioral neurology, neuropsychiatry, and brain injury medicine. As the program director of the NYU Grossman School of Medicine combined psychiatry/neurology residency, I am committed to training the next generation of specialists who can navigate the complexities of neuropsychiatric care with expertise and compassion. My research focuses on neurologic recovery after acquired brain injury, disorders of consciousness, and catatonia, with the goal of advancing therapeutic approaches that significantly enhance functional outcomes for patients.
My passion for this field is driven by the remarkable progress I witness in my patients. Seeing individuals regain their cognitive and behavioral functions after a brain injury is incredibly rewarding. I am inspired by their resilience and am dedicated to continuing my work to improve their wellbeing and quality of life.
