As an interventional cardiologist, I specialize in high-risk and complex procedures to open narrowed or blocked arteries. People with coronary artery disease, including those with advanced heart failure or advanced kidney disease, see me for treatment. Many of my patients have been turned down elsewhere. Other doctors have told them they’re not good candidates for coronary bypass surgery or nonsurgical intervention. My job is to give people options and provide the best outcome possible.

My father’s sudden death from a heart attack during my second year of medical school proved to be a defining moment in my career. It set me on a path to study cardiology, and it shaped how I approach patient care. For me, every interaction is personal. I don’t walk away just because someone’s case is difficult. I want to be the doctor that other interventionalists send their patients to when they need complex care.

My patients with complex coronary artery disease include people diagnosed with heart attack, acute coronary syndrome, chronic total occlusions, and acute heart failure. I perform percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), a nonsurgical procedure for restoring blood flow to the heart. I also specialize in a variety of catheter-based techniques for clearing coronary calcium and stenting coronary arteries, including atherectomy.
