Physical & Occupational Therapy Services
Physical and occupational therapists at NYU Langone’s Center for Musculoskeletal Care provide individualized, one-on-one care for acute, postsurgical, and chronic musculoskeletal impairments. Our goal is to return patients to their prior level of function and performance.
Therapy at the Center for Musculoskeletal Center is provided by NYU Langone’s Rusk Rehabilitation, ranked the best rehabilitation program in New York and among the top 10 in the country by U.S. News & World Report since 1989.
Expertise in Orthopaedic Conditions
Our highly accomplished physical and occupational therapists partner with referring physicians and other specialists to develop a program focused on strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. We also emphasize patient education and injury prevention.
Our expert therapists specialize in treating patients who have orthopaedic disorders, including:
- postoperative care following sports-medicine surgery, tendon and ligament repair, joint replacement, spine surgery, and fracture management
- sports-related injuries, including muscle strains and joint sprains
- overuse injuries such as tendonitis and bursitis
- neck and low-back pain
Patients also have access to our Sports Performance Center, which offers a seamless transition to higher-level training for those who have completed therapy and want to build on the improvements they’ve made.
Additional Expertise in Hand Therapy
Our certified hand therapists provide specialized care for postoperative, sports-related, and overuse injuries of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand. They are also experts in the fabrication of static and dynamic splints.
Leaders in their field, our therapists conduct research, lecture at local universities, teach continuing-education courses, have been invited to present at national conferences, and have published scientific papers in professional journals. They are experts at sport-specific rehabilitation and serve as members of The Running Lab at NYU Langone.
