About Me

As an orthopaedic spine surgeon at NYU Langone’s Hospital for Joint Diseases, I provide surgical care to people who have experienced degenerative disease, disc herniation, spinal stenosis, deformity and spondylolisthesis, trauma, tumors, and infections affecting the spine. As a spine surgeon, I treat people with any disorder affecting the cervical, thoracic, and lumbosacral regions of the spine. I have been nationally and internationally recognized for my expertise in minimally invasive spine surgery and artificial disc replacement. In my practice, I aim to always provide innovative, compassionate, and empathetic patient care.

As the director of the Spine Service for Education and the Spine Fellowship at NYU School of Medicine, I am involved in training fellows in the field of spine surgery. I am also involved in the research and development of biomedical materials and devices, as well as several clinical trials. I am proud of my work as a surgeon, researcher, and innovator, and I have authored numerous book chapters and articles that have been published nationally and internationally.

I was honored to receive the Leon L. Wiltse “Best Paper” award at the annual meeting of the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery. I am also the proud recipient of Vitals Patients’ Choice and Most Compassionate Doctor awards. I am recognized by New York Magazine and Super Doctors as one of New York’s “Best Doctors” and by Castle Connolly as one of America’s “Top Doctors.”

I serve on the editorial and advisory boards of The Spine Journal, the International Journal of Spine Surgery, the Global Spine Journal, Spine Surgery Today, and the Bulletin of the Hospital for Joint Diseases, and I am on the review board for Spine

I am a fellow of both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. I am a member of the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery (ISASS), the North American Spine Society, the Cervical Spine Research Society, the International Society for Study of the Lumbar Spine, the Scoliosis Research Society, the American Orthopaedic Association, and the Lumbar Spine Research Society. I am in the presidential line of succession and on the board of directors for the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery, and I serve as the society’s treasurer.
