Sports Performance Center Team
The Sports Performance Center team is made up of experts with a depth and breadth of knowledge and experience in exercise physiology, sports psychology, and nutrition.
Heather A. Milton, MS, RCEP, CSCS, Exercise Physiologist Supervisor
Ms. Milton is a board-certified clinical exercise physiologist, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS®), and Certified Cancer Exercise Trainer (CET). She develops specialized programs to help athletes reach their maximum potential and ability. She also creates unique and motivational programs to inspire health and fitness clients, and designs injury prevention programs for at-risk athletes. In addition to performing a variety of metabolic and biomechanical evaluations, Ms. Milton is a founding member of the Return to Sports program and the Hockey Center. Ms. Milton conducts multiple research projects for peer-reviewed medical journals and is a clinician with the Golf Lab and the Running Lab and helps run their strength and conditioning classes for runners and golfers.
Kaitlyn Baird, MA, CEP, Exercise Physiologist
Ms. Baird has a master’s degree in exercise physiology and is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine. She has conducted clinical research in exercise and disease and taught kinesiology at the college level. In the Running Lab, she works with people of all ages and fitness levels, teaches the Strength and Conditioning Class for Runners, performs metabolic testing, and designs custom training programs. A former professional dancer, Ms. Baird believes health and movement are the key to longevity.
Samantha Heller, MS, RDN, Clinical Nutritionist
Ms. Heller is a registered dietitian and exercise physiologist. She has expertise in chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and heart disease. Her clinical interests also include weight management and sports. She is the host of “Samantha Heller’s Health and Nutrition Show” on SiriusXM Radio’s Doctor Radio station and author of The Only Cleanse: A 14-Day Natural Detox Plan to Jump-Start a Lifetime of Health. Ms. Heller is a clinician with the Running Lab.
Nicole Lund, MPH, RDN, Clinical Nutritionist
Ms. Lund is a registered dietitian, adjunct professor, and certified personal trainer. She has expertise in sports and performance nutrition as well as in training clients with various clinical and musculoskeletal conditions. Ms. Lund is a clinician with the Running Lab and USA Nordic.
Bonnie Marks, PsyD, Staff Psychologist
Dr. Marks specializes in mindfulness and recovery from injury, sports psychology, and meditation. She performs neuropsychological evaluations, cognitive remediation, and psychotherapy, and she leads presentations on integrative medicine. She serves as a guide for athletes with disabilities during the New York City Marathon and volunteers with the USA Women’s Wrestling Team as a consultant on performance issues.
Belkys DeJesus, Administrative Assistant
Ms. DeJesus helps organize, set up, and schedule the Running Lab and wellness classes. She received the NYU Langone Team Spotlight Award in 2005.
Jolan Browne, DPT, PT, OCS, Senior Physical Therapist
Dr. Browne is a senior physical therapist. She is certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties as a clinical specialist in orthopedics. Her clinical interests include postoperative and conservative management of shoulder, knee, and ankle injuries. A former track athlete, she enjoys running and biking and looks forward to completing her first triathlon. At the Running Lab, she performs foot and ankle assessments.
Wil Colón, PT, MS, SCS, Clinical Specialist
Mr. Colón is a clinical specialist. He specializes in the management and prevention of orthopedic and sports injuries. Certified as a clinical specialist in sports physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, Mr. Colón is also involved in the clinical education and mentoring of staff physical therapists. A founding member of the Running Lab, his interests lie in video analysis and foot and ankle injuries in runners.
Gauri S. Dhamnaskar, DPT, PT, MS, OCS, Senior Physical Therapist
Ms. Dhamnaskar is a senior physical therapist, certified orthopedic clinical specialist, and is credentialed by the American Physical Therapy Association as an advanced clinical instructor. As senior clinical instructor, she works with students pursuing their doctorates in physical therapy. Her clinical interests include rehabilitation of postsurgical trauma and sports-related injuries of the upper and lower extremities. As a member of the Running Lab, Dr. Dhamnaskar performs strength and flexibility assessments, develops runners’ final reports, and speaks at the marathon lecture series as well as the student lecture series on running injuries. Dr. Dhamnaskar also published an abstract titled “Early use of antigravity treadmill training for return to running following tibial stress fracture” in the December 2019 edition of the International Journal of Sports Physical Therapy. An avid short- to mid-distance runner, she practices Pranayama yoga, which focuses on breath control.
Corina Ehrenberg, PT, Senior Physical Therapist
Ms. Ehrenberg is a senior physical therapist. She is certified in Functional Movement Systems® and Astym® and is a Pilates mat instructor. Ms. Ehrenberg’s clinical interests include manual therapy and treatment of running, sports-related, and dance injuries. She performs foot and ankle assessments for the Running Lab.
Jennifer Gallinaro, DPT, PT, OCS, Program Manager
Dr. Gallinaro is certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties as a clinical specialist in orthopedics. Her areas of specialty and clinical interests include postoperative shoulder rehabilitation and golf- and running-related injuries. A founding member of the Running Lab, Dr. Gallinaro conducts video analysis. She also is a founding member of the Golf Lab.
Mira Kaufman, DPT, PT, OCS, Senior Physical Therapist
Dr. Kaufman is a senior physical therapist. Certified as a clinical specialist in orthopedic physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, she is credentialed by the American Physical Therapy Association as an advanced clinical instructor and is an experienced clinician in lymphedema management and vestibular rehabilitation. Dr. Kaufman’s areas of clinical interest include running and sports overuse injuries and concussion-related neck injuries. She performs strength and flexibility assessments for the Running Lab. A former competitive tennis player, she now enjoys yoga, running, hiking, and backpacking.
James Koo, DPT, OCS, SCS, FAAOMPT, COMT, Supervisor
Dr. Koo is an outpatient physical therapy supervisor. He is certified as a clinical specialist in both orthopedic and sports physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. He is a certified orthopedic manual therapist and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Therapists. Dr. Koo maintains an active clinical practice, specializing in orthopedic and sports manual physical therapy and subspecializing in treating runners and triathletes. A founding member of the Running Lab, he performs video analysis and moderates educational sessions. He also is a founding member of the Golf Lab. Dr. Koo has a black belt in tae kwon do and is a volleyball setter, a marathon runner, and an Ironman triathlon finisher.
Maureen McDonough, PT, DPT, OCS, Senior Physical Therapist
Dr. McDonough is a senior physical therapist and an APTA board-certified clinical specialist in orthopedics. Her clinical interests include managing sports-related injuries in both runners and swimmers, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, and postoperative management of the upper and lower extremities. She was a swimmer in college and began running recreationally after graduation, having since completed six half marathons. As a member of the Running Lab, she performs the stability and mobility assessment.
Fiona Moore, DPT, PT, OCS, SCS, Supervisor
Dr. Moore is an outpatient physical therapy supervisor. She is a board-certified clinical specialist in orthopedics and sports through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Her areas of specialty and clinical interest include orthopedic manual therapy, treatment of overuse and sports-related injuries, and movement analysis. At the Running Lab, Dr. Moore conducts foot and ankle assessments and develops runners’ final reports. A former internationally ranked swimmer and collegiate water polo player, Dr. Moore now enjoys sprint triathlons, running, and swimming.
Bethany Ridenhour DPT, PT, OCS, CSCS, Senior Physical Therapist
Dr. Ridenhour is a senior physical therapist. As a member of the Running Lab, Dr. Ridenhour performs strength and flexibility assessments and speaks at the marathon lecture series. She is a board-certified clinical specialist in orthopedics through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and a certified Ironman coach and USA Cycling coach. Dr. Ridenhour is also certified in Functional Movement Systems® and is a clinical instructor credentialed by the American Physical Therapy Association. Outside of work, she runs triathlons and has completed three Half Ironman distance races.
Kate VanDamme, DPT, PT, OCS, Cert. TMM, Clinical Specialist
Dr. VanDamme is a clinical specialist. She is certified as an orthopedic clinical specialist by the American Physical Therapy Association. A distance runner, Dr. VanDamme takes special interest in the evaluation and treatment of runners and postoperative athletes. At the Running Lab, she conducts foot and ankle assessments and helps runners understand how these factors contribute to their running goals.
Monica Seu, OTR/L, CHT, CLT, Senior Occupational Therapist
Ms. Seu is a senior II occupational therapist. She is a certified hand therapist and has obtained her Level 1 Certification through Titleist Performance Institute. Her areas of specialty and clinical interests include postsurgical and nonsurgical management of the shoulder, elbow, and hand, as well as treating golf-related injuries to the upper body. In the Golf Lab, she assesses clients’ strength and flexibility.
Eric Ross, DPT, PT, OCS, Clinical Specialist
Dr. Ross is certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties as a clinical specialist in orthopedics. In addition to having obtained a Level 1 Certification through the Titleist Performance Institute, Dr. Ross is a certified Kinesio Taping® practitioner and is currently working on becoming a certified manual therapist through the Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars. His areas of specialty and interests include sports rehabilitation and golf- and hockey-related injuries. A founding member of the Golf Lab, Dr. Ross conducts strength and flexibility analysis.
Yera Patel, DPT, PT, OCS, CSCS, Staff Physical Therapist
Dr. Patel is a staff physical therapist and is part of the Running Lab and Concussion Center teams. She is a board-certified orthopedic physical therapist and certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a strength and conditioning coach. Dr. Patel enjoys using her personal experience as a runner and fitness enthusiast to help people improve their performance, build their confidence, and reduce their risk of injury. She is especially focused on managing running injuries, chronic pain, and post-concussive disorders.
Charles Homoky, DPT, PT, SCS, CSCS, Staff Physical Therapist
Dr. Homoky is a staff physical therapist. He is certified as a clinical specialist in sports physical therapy by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and certified as a strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Dr. Homoky successfully completed the University of Southern California Sports Residency Program in 2018. He performs video analysis for patients in the Running Lab. A former college football player, he now enjoys strength training, golfing, and tennis.
Kayce Davis, DPT, PT, Senior Physical Therapist
Dr. Davis is a senior physical therapist. She is certified as a clinical instructor by the American Physical Therapy Association. She is a certified Pilates reformer instructor and is a former professional Broadway dancer. Dr. Davis specializes in treating and preventing orthopedic sports and dance injuries and on postoperative rehabilitation so athletes can successfully return to their sport. She performs foot and ankle assessments in the Running Lab.
Raymond Peralta, DPT, PT, RCEP, Senior Physical Therapist
Dr. Peralta is a senior physical therapist specializing in orthopedic rehabilitation. He is a board-certified clinical specialist in orthopedic physical therapy, a USA Track and Field Level 1 coach and Precision Nutrition Level 1 coach, and a clinical instructor. Dr. Peralta performs stability and mobility assessments in the Running Lab. He helps people with musculoskeletal conditions with therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, neuromuscular re-education, and rehabilitation techniques.
Scott Young, Golf Pro
Mr. Young is a AAA-rated Professional Golfers Association of Australia member, and has been a member of the organization for 18 years. As a touring golf professional, he has traveled the globe for 10 years playing in more than 80 full tour events. Mr. Young combines personal experience in pure ball striking with knowledge of human physiology and golf specific biomechanics.
Stacy Kirsch, MS, OTR/L, C/NDT, CKTP
Ms. Kirsch is a pediatric clinical specialist in the inpatient and outpatient program at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital. She specializes in orthopedic and neurological conditions, and is a certified Kinesio Taping® practitioner. She has given several national and international presentations on surgical and nonsurgical procedures for brachial plexus birth injuries. She has also given presentations on upper body injury prevention, as well as on rehabilitation techniques for patients who have dislocated their shoulders. Ms. Kirsch evaluates baseball pitchers’ strength and flexibility to help prevent injuries and improve throwing performance.
Will Vandenberg, MS, Biomechanist
Mr. Vandenberg is a sports biomechanist. He is also a biomechanical quantitative analyst for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He received his master of science degree in mechanical engineering and biomechanics from Tufts University and is OnBase University–certified in baseball hitting. A pitcher for his college baseball team, he specializes in injury prevention and improving athletic performance. Mr. Vandenberg helped develop programs at the Golf Lab.
Anthony Yacco, Pitching Coach
In 1999, Coach Yacco was the San Francisco Giants tenth-round draft pick out of high school. As a former professional athlete, he has unique insights that help baseball players improve their sports performance. Coach Yacco specializes in biomechanics and performance for rotational athletes from youth to professional levels. His expertise extends across multiple sports, including football, baseball, softball, lacrosse, hockey, and golf. He has been creating individualized programs for athletes for more than 20 years, and focuses on the interrelationship between biomechanics and kinesiology along with mental and emotional awareness, strength, and conditioning.
