Our survivorship learning series focuses on the unique issues related to living with cancer and life after treatment. Some of our programs are tailored to patients and caregivers, and others are geared toward members of the general public who have not yet been affected by cancer.

How Food Choices Affect the Environment

We are celebrating Earth Month with a special webinar dedicated to raising awareness about the connections between our food choices, our health, and the environment. Join NYU Langone registered dietitian Michelle Mock, MPH, RDN, CDN, and cardiologist Dr. Dennis A. Goodman to discover how the demand and production of certain foods contribute to water shortages, deforestation, species loss, and the declining health of our oceans. Learn about the small nutritional changes you can make that will not only help your heart but will also make you a better friend to our planet. Physical Activity and Cancer Survivorship

Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia: An Evening with the Docs

Please join us for an in-depth conversation with chronic lymphocytic leukemia experts Dr. Bruce G. Raphael and Dr. Tibor Moskovits. Topics for discussion include fixed-duration therapy, side effect management, and when to consider a clinical trial. This event is being organized in collaboration with Patient Power, a community of cancer experts who support people with cancer, their care partners, and loved ones through education and advocacy.

Life with Graft-Versus-Host-Disease (GvHD): New Treatment Approaches

Dr. Samer Al-Homsi, director of NYU Langone’s Blood and Marrow Transplant Program, joins an expert panel to discuss living with graft-versus-host-disease (GvHD) after a stem cell or bone marrow transplant. People who receive a stem cell or bone marrow transplant can develop GvHD, a condition in which immune cells in donated blood and marrow attack the tissues of a recipient.

Topics include understanding how GvHD develops, signs and symptoms, current standards of care, new and promising treatment approaches, and the increasing role of telehealth. This event is being organized in collaboration with CancerCare, a nonprofit organization that provides support services and information to people with cancer.
