NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is the first medical institution in the New York metropolitan area to offer CyberKnife® radiosurgery, a minimally invasive type of targeted radiation therapy. Our Breast Health Center is recognized by the American College of Surgeons National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, a designation given for the highest standards in breast cancer treatment.
Our patients at Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island also have access to the most advanced treatments through clinical trials.
Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Services
We specialize in diagnosing and treating all types of cancer, with dedicated centers and programs for lung cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, head and neck cancer, breast cancer, gynecologic cancer, urologic cancer, bone and soft tissue tumors, brain tumors, and spinal cord tumors. Our team of specialists develops a customized treatment plan for each patient and meets regularly to discuss your care.
Our radiologists use a variety of advanced imaging techniques to detect cancer, including CT, MRI, PET, and nuclear medicine scans, and our pathologists analyze tumor tissue removed through a biopsy to diagnose the type and stage of cancer. Radiologists at Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone—Mineola, designated as a Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, use advanced digital mammography and ultrasound technology to diagnose breast cancer. We also offer endoscopic ultrasound, a procedure that involves inserting an ultrasound probe through the mouth and into the stomach, to help diagnose pancreatic cancer without the need for surgery.
Our surgical oncologists specialize in conventional and minimally invasive surgical techniques, including the da Vinci®surgical system. This minimally invasive robotic surgical approach allows our surgeons to make very small incisions, which shortens recovery time. We are designated as a Hidden Scar Center, in recognition of our expertise in performing breast-conserving surgery that removes cancerous tissue but hides visible scarring.
Our radiation oncologists are trained in all types of radiation therapy using the most advanced technology. We are the largest CyberKnife® radiation treatment center in the United States and one of the largest in the world. Each year, we treat more than 800 patients. Using robotic technology, the CyberKnife® system allows us to safely and accurately provide treatment for different types of cancer, including prostate cancer, lung cancer, and tumors of the central nervous system, within five days or less.
We are also a designated training site for CyberKnife® and are accredited by the American College of Radiology for following the highest standards of safety and excellence in delivering radiation therapy.
At Perlmutter Cancer Center Infusion Center at NYU Langone—120 Mineola Boulevard, we provide chemotherapy and other infusion treatments in a personalized and comfortable setting. We also offer autologous stem cell transplants for adults.
