We deliver compassionate, patient-centered cancer care in a world-class facility on Long Island.
As part of NYU Langone’s Perlmutter Cancer Center, our experts provide a full range of diagnostic services, treatments, and support programs for all types of cancer.
Our team of surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and oncology nurses, located at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island, is at the forefront of cancer care. NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is the first medical institution in the New York metropolitan area to offer CyberKnife® radiosurgery, a minimally invasive type of targeted radiation therapy. Our Breast Health Center is recognized by the American College of Surgeons National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, a designation given for the highest standards in breast cancer treatment.
Our patients at Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island also have access to the most advanced treatments through clinical trials.
Our radiologists use a variety of advanced imaging techniques to detect cancer, including CT, MRI, PET, and nuclear medicine scans, and our pathologists analyze tumor tissue removed through a biopsy to diagnose the type and stage of cancer. Radiologists at Perlmutter Cancer Center at NYU Langone—Mineola, designated as a Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, use advanced digital mammography and ultrasound technology to diagnose breast cancer. We also offer endoscopic ultrasound, a procedure that involves inserting an ultrasound probe through the mouth and into the stomach, to help diagnose pancreatic cancer without the need for surgery.
Our surgical oncologists specialize in conventional and minimally invasive surgical techniques, including the da Vinci® surgical system. This minimally invasive robotic surgical approach allows our surgeons to make very small incisions, which shortens recovery time. We are designated as a Hidden Scar Center, in recognition of our expertise in performing breast-conserving surgery that removes cancerous tissue but hides visible scarring.
Using advanced technology, our radiation oncologists plan and deliver radiation therapy safely and precisely. Through CyberKnife® radiosurgery, we can precisely target radiation to tumors in any part of the body, most often for prostate, breast, brain, or lung cancer.
Our genetic counseling experts offer genetic risk assessment and can provide guidelines for cancer screenings based on your particular cancer risk factors.
Through our Cancer Navigator Program, we offer personalized assistance to patients, families, and caregivers during diagnosis, treatment, and recovery from cancer. Our cancer navigators, who are trained oncology nurses, provide education, emotional support, and resources to help you make informed decisions and guide you through doctor visits, tests, and treatments.
Our Supportive Oncology Program also offers palliative care designed to help improve your quality of life and manage the symptoms and side effects of cancer treatment.
