NYU Langone Outpatient Laboratory

At the NYU Langone Outpatient Laboratory, we provide a range of blood-draw services on a walk-in basis to adults and children to help our doctors evaluate your health and diagnose medical conditions. Our laboratory is staffed with highly trained, professional phlebotomists, who provide efficient, high-quality service in a safe and friendly environment.

We provide blood collection services to patients who have orders from NYU Langone doctors, including the following:

• venipuncture, which is placing a needle into a vein and withdrawing blood into a syringe
• capillary collection, which is pricking an adult’s finger or a child’s heel with a small needle to collect blood from the tiny vessels near the surface of the skin
• blood culture collection to help your doctor determine whether you have an infection of the blood or heart
• blood collection from people who need to bank it for transfusions during surgery

We also collect urine, stool, and saliva and mucus specimens from patients.

In addition, most NYU Langone doctors’ offices also offer these blood-draw and other specimen collection services to patients.
