  • blood pressure monitoring 
  • cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) to assess how blood moves through the heart
  • cardiovascular consults and preoperative evaluations
  • carotid ultrasound to look for blockages in the arteries of the neck
  • cholesterol and glucose testing
  • electrocardiography to measure the electrical activity in the heart 
  • event monitoring and Holter monitoring to analyze heart rhythm
  • exercise and pharmacological stress testing to evaluate how your heart responds to exertion
  • nuclear (thallium) stress testing that uses radioactive dye to create images of your heart during exertion
