We serve inpatient locations in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Long Island.
NYU Langone’s Comprehensive Transfer Center provides a single point of contact for referring physicians to transfer adult patients to and within NYU Langone’s inpatient locations, including Tisch Hospital, NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital, Rusk Rehabilitation, NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, and NYU Winthrop Hospital, and helps facilitate direct admissions.
Members of our team include highly skilled registered nurses, therapists, and patient placement associates who help manage all adult patient movement throughout NYU Langone’s hospitals. We also support intrafacility transfers, pediatric and neonatal transport, placement of patients from the emergency department, elective admissions, surgical admissions, direct admissions, and inpatient rehabilitation admissions.
We work with primary care physicians and other healthcare providers to gather patients’ most up-to-date medical information, which we arrange to have delivered to NYU Langone hospital staff. Our team also works with insurance providers to obtain financial clearance.
If you are a medical provider requesting a patient transfer to NYU Langone through the Comprehensive Transfer Center, please call 212-263-8500, press 1, and follow the prompts to speak with one of our nurses 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
A Comprehensive Transfer Center nurse connects you with a potential accepting attending physician and, if accepted, facilitates transfer to NYU Langone. All external transfer requests are prioritized based on patient safety. Some transfer requests require Comprehensive Transfer Center approval, as well as financial clearance, before transfer.
Please be ready to provide the following information:
If you are a medical provider requesting an inpatient referral to Rusk Rehabilitation, please call Rusk Rehabilitation’s outreach and admissions team at 212-263-6034. The patient’s current social worker should fax medical records to 212-263-8510 or use Allscripts. When our team receives the referral, a clinical liaison contacts the referring social worker, as well as the patient, patient’s family, or both when appropriate.
To request a transfer to an NYU Langone facility, please speak with your current medical care team. Only an attending physician can initiate a transfer.
