About Me
Growing up, I always loved problem-solving and science. I graduated from MIT with a degree in engineering, but then pursued a career in medicine because I wanted to help people in a more personal way. During medical school, I learned that internal medicine doctors are critical thinkers trained to solve diagnostic problems across all organ systems and to manage multiple, complex conditions. I knew that this would be the right field for me.
As a hospitalist physician, I often meet patients for the first time when they are acutely ill or are confronting a new diagnosis. I treat patients in the hospital with a wide range of conditions, including heart failure, cardiovascular disease, pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), infections, gastrointestinal bleeding, cirrhosis, kidney disease, and blood disorders. I also coordinate my patients’ care in the hospital with consulting medical and surgical subspecialties.
Being admitted to the hospital is a stressful time for patients and their loved ones. I strive to help my patients understand as much as possible about their medical conditions. I encourage them to share their priorities and goals with me so we can formulate a treatment plan together.
In addition to caring for patients, I also lead a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, case managers, social workers, and pharmacists in my role as medical unit director. Twice a day, we discuss every patient on the unit to ensure each member of the care team is updated on everyone’s plan of care. We also review any needs they may have after their hospital stay is over, such as rehabilitation, home care, or requiring new medical equipment at home.
Our goal is to always make your time in the hospital as healing, informed, and safe as possible.
