As a psychiatrist at NYU Langone Psychiatry Associates, I am dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care to my patients. My approach centers on understanding individuals’ unique stories and offering treatment options that align with their preferences. Building trust and rapport with my patients is essential, and I achieve this through a gentle, supportive, and nonjudgmental stance.

I specialize in treating patients with a wide range of psychiatric conditions, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and depression. My research focuses on neuromodulation, and I am currently studying the use of transcranial focused ultrasound as a treatment for schizophrenia. This innovative approach aims to offer new hope for individuals with treatment-resistant conditions.

Throughout my career, I have remained at the forefront of emerging treatments for psychotic disorders. My experience as a psychiatrist in both China and France has equipped me with the ability to provide culturally sensitive care, and I am fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese. This diverse background allows me to connect with a broader range of patients and address their specific needs effectively.

My journey into medicine was inspired by my mother, who was a physician. Growing up surrounded by doctors and nurses, I was drawn to their dedication to helping those in need. During medical school, my fascination with human behavior and the brain led me to specialize in psychiatry. I am committed to advancing mental healthcare and advocating for patients who might otherwise be overlooked.

Research Summary

As a clinician-scientist, I have a longstanding interest in the development of novel, targeted interventions. Early in my career, I applied data-driven approaches to predict PTSD risk and explored personalized medicine. As a Clinical Research Track resident at NYU, I trained under Dr. Donald Goff and investigated neurobiological models of psychosis. My work during residency led to the discovery of a neuromodulation target for psychosis. This foundational work laid the groundwork for one of the first pilot studies applying transcranial focused ultrasound stimulation (TUS) to target the globus pallidus in individuals with schizophrenia, aiming to modulate the cortical-striato-pallidal-thalamic circuit. My ongoing work focuses on refining individualized TUS parameters and evaluating its long-term therapeutic effects on CSPT circuit dysfunction in schizophrenia.
