As an associate professor of emergency medicine at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive care to my patients. My role allows me to engage deeply with individuals facing acute health challenges, and I find immense fulfillment in making a significant impact during critical moments. My philosophy of care centers on empathy, responsiveness, and fostering strong patient–provider partnerships to ensure the best possible outcomes.

I specialize in emergency medicine with a focus on global health and the health impacts of immigration and immigration policy. With over a decade of experience, I have honed my skills in managing complex medical emergencies and providing holistic care to survivors of torture and war trauma.

My credentials include a medical doctorate from the University of Michigan Medical School, a residency in emergency medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and a fellowship in global health and international emergency medicine at Yale University. Additionally, I hold a master of science degree in tropical medicine and a diploma in tropical medicine and hygiene from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Throughout my career, I have been involved in various global health initiatives, including post-conflict health reconstruction in Liberia and health projects in Haiti, Ghana, South Africa, and Indonesia. My work has also included assessing diagnostic tools for tuberculosis in patients with HIV infection and AIDS in Johannesburg, South Africa. These experiences have enriched my understanding of health equity and the importance of culturally sensitive care, which I bring to my practice at NYU Langone.

My journey into medicine was inspired by a passion for international development and a commitment to addressing health disparities. I earned my bachelor of arts degree in international development from the University of California, Los Angeles, which laid the foundation for my career in global health.

My work with the Bellevue Program for Survivors of Torture (PSOT) further solidified my dedication to providing comprehensive care to vulnerable populations. Additionally, I received a certification by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the World Health Organization. As part of the NYU Langone system, I am proud to collaborate with a team to deliver coordinated, seamless care to my patients.
