William Folberth, PsyD

As a clinical psychologist at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to providing the highest level of care for my patients. My approach is grounded in clinical research, ensuring that the interventions I use are effective. One of my guiding principles is that each person I work with feels validated and understood, and that my care is infused with warmth and compassion. I work collaboratively with each client to ensure they receive the appropriate level of care to address their unique constellation of symptoms.

I specialize in working with children, adults, and families who have been impacted by stressful or traumatic events, as well as children who have mood disorders, behavior problems, and anxiety disorders. My therapeutic sessions are primarily based on cognitive-behavioral therapy. I have received specialty training in trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy and emotion-focused therapy. Additionally, I incorporate mindfulness practices into my work and draw from family systems theory to enhance care. With years of experience in the field, I am committed to helping my patients achieve their mental health goals.

My research interests include the implementation of treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder in children and adolescents. I have presented on this topic at the annual convention of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America. Additionally, I have examined the functional impairment among children seeking treatment at an outpatient clinic serving military families and presented these findings at the Association for Cognitive Behavioral Therapies convention.
