Swati Deshmukh, MD

As a medical student, I discovered the field of radiology – a medical specialty solely focused on diagnostic imaging and image-guided procedures.  Diagnostic radiologists, I learned, are doctors who “see” patients through medical imaging, often without “seeing” patients in real life! Radiologists are sometimes nicknamed “the Doctor’s Doctor” – physician imaging experts who help other types of doctors correctly diagnose patient conditions by acquiring and interpreting medical images such as x-rays, CT, and MRI.

I joined the Department of Radiology at NYU in 2024.  I specialize in musculoskeletal radiology, which focuses on the imaging of soft tissue, bones, and joints. I enjoy working with referring doctors to ensure their patients are correctly diagnosed and get the best care for their needs.  My research involves using MRI to study small nerves throughout the body.
