Research Summary
Dr. Christine S. Ghilain earned her undergraduate degree with honors as a double major in Psychology and Education from Bucknell University (2008). She obtained her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Miami (2016). Dr. Ghilain completed her internship (residency) in Lifespan Neuropsychology at the Emory University School of Medicine/Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA). She completed a 2-year neuropsychology fellowship at CHOA. In 2019, she was certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) in Clinical Neuropsychology. Prior to starting her own practice, Dr. Ghilain was hired to develop a pediatric neuropsychology service line for an 11-hospital system in the suburbs of Atlanta.
Dr. Ghilain has given over 20 presentations and invited talks at national/international conferences. She has particular expertise in pediatric neuropsychology and has a passion for infant and early childhood assessment. Her research and clinical interests include children with diverse neurological conditions including epilepsy, perinatal stroke, genetic disorders, premature birth, autism spectrum disorders and concussion. Her background in education and neuropsychology gives her unique insight into how best to help parents partner with schools to provide the supports needed for a struggling child.
With adults, Dr. Ghilain has worked extensively with individuals who are diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, dementia, stroke and autism spectrum disorder. She has experience with guardianship and competency evaluations, and has been retained as an expert to perform Independent Neuropsychological Evaluations for the courts.
As the New Jersey State representative for the APA Division 40 Early Career Neuropsychology Committee (ECNPC), Dr. Ghilain serves as a mentor to fellow neuropsychologists looking to attain board certification (ABPP) in the field. She has consulted for professional sports programs, is a volunteer staff person as part of the Atlantic Healthcare System (AHS), and is a reviewer of numerous peer-reviewed professional journals.
