About Me
As a psychiatrist at NYU Langone, I am dedicated to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to my patients. I believe in the importance of understanding each individual's unique story and experiences, and I strive to create a therapeutic environment in which patients feel heard and supported. My approach combines the precision of medical science with the nuanced understanding of human behavior and emotions, ensuring that each patient receives personalized and effective treatment.
I specialize in treating psychiatric conditions in patients who are medically ill, including those with cancer, stroke, neurodegenerative diseases, and various types of pain. My training in psycho-oncology has equipped me with the skills to address the complex interplay between mental health and chronic medical conditions. I use a range of therapeutic techniques, such as meaning-centered therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), alongside psychopharmacology, to provide holistic care. Additionally, I have an interest in women's mental health, perinatal conditions, and substance use disorders, with a particular focus on ketamine use disorder.
Throughout my career, I have been committed to serving underserved populations and patients from diverse cultural backgrounds. My team and I take a comprehensive approach to consult psychiatry, considering individuals and their community context to find the best solutions for their mental health needs. This dedication to culturally sensitive and accessible care ensures that we can effectively support patients from all walks of life.
My journey into medicine was driven by a deep interest in human stories and the complexities of personhood. Initially drawn to literature, I found my calling in psychiatry during medical school, where the blend of scientific precision and the art of storytelling captivated me. This unique combination continues to inspire my work, and I am honored to be part of NYU Langone, where I can collaborate with a diverse team to provide the highest standard of coordinated and comprehensive care to my patients.
