About Me
My exposure to the field of medicine began with my father, who was a cardiologist. He influenced my interest in medicine, and during college, I decided to join the ambulance corps as an emergency medical technician. This experience solidified my passion for helping people.
I was drawn to the specialty of cardiology because it allows me to provide ongoing care in outpatient settings and interventional care in an acute hospital setting. I’m able to build long-term relationships with multiple generations of families and help people when they are in most need of a doctor—it’s the best of both worlds.
I treat people who have various heart conditions, including atherosclerosis, coronary artery disease, vascular disease, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, and those who have had heart attacks. When I work with patients, I assess their overall wellbeing and help them to improve their health. In addition to providing medical therapies, I advocate for lifestyle changes, such as diet and exercise. Regaining health is a journey, and I meet patients where they are. I understand that everyone’s circumstances are individual and unique.
At NYU Langone Ambulatory Care Bay Ridge, my cardiology group is a fixture of the Brooklyn community. Starting with my father and his childhood best friend, Dr. Nagi J. Bustros, my group has been practicing in the neighborhood since 1977. We have a strong understanding of and connection with our patients, and we have a holistic and preventive approach to care.
Additionally, I treat patients at NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn, where I provide stents for those who have blocked arteries or a heart attack. When people require more specialized equipment due to their condition, I can see them at Tisch Hospital in Manhattan.
I serve as the section chief of cardiology at NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn. I’ve been featured on TODAY and in The New York Times discussing the lifesaving care I provided for a patient.
