I was drawn to the medical profession, and radiology in particular, because it provides an opportunity to improve the lives of others. The field of radiology is the center piece of current medical practice. It is uniquely positioned to make accurate diagnoses and apply new technologies and innovations to better aid patients and engage their referring clinicians. As a breast imaging specialist, I have a true positive impact on saving the lives of women through the early detection of breast cancer.

At NYU Langone Health, I served as the section chief of breast imaging and was the lead interpreting physician for MQSA, responsible for maintaining all aspects of quality pertaining to breast imaging throughout the institution. I completed my residency in radiology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and at NYC Health + Hospitals Corporation. I am a professor of radiology and have been a proud faculty member in the Department of Radiology for more than 25 years.

I take great pride in providing excellent, evidence-based medicine in combination with compassionate, and timely patient care. I provide a collaborative relationship with my patients and highly value this shared approach. It is an essential component for successful outcomes, whether for routine screening exams or for the caring of women who have a known breast cancer diagnosis.

During my career, I have provided outstanding care to the diverse and underserved women in New York City. My membership on the oversight committee of the Beatrice W. Welters Breast Health Outreach and Navigation Program has been a truly rewarding position. This program has brought many women to the breast care they desperately need. I take immense pride in our distinguished record of being one of the first Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence recognized by the American College of Radiology.

My academic mission includes mentoring and teaching residents and breast imaging fellows. Educating the next generation of doctors with rigorous medical training, training which also emphasizes the importance of understanding each individual’s health situation, is my goal.

My research has focused on innovative approaches to image-guided biopsy procedures, assessing the role of MRI, evaluating the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to mammography, and using the latest technology to precisely mark tumors or lesions before surgery. I am part of a multidisciplinary team at Perlmutter Cancer Center that is seeking a novel method to improve treatment processes.

I am a member of the American College of Radiology, the Society of Breast Imaging, and the New York Roentgen Society. I have served as the president of the New York Breast Imaging Society and have lectured at more than 60 regional and national conferences. I enjoy speaking on behalf of NYU Langone Health to local communities and wellness programs. I am also a regular guest on Doctor Radio during the breast awareness month of October.
