About Me
As a child, adult, and forensic psychiatrist at NYU Langone and Bellevue Hospital, I am dedicated to providing expert and compassionate care to my patients. My approach to care is centered on fostering resilience, growth, and overall wellbeing. I believe mental health care should be evidence-based, collaborative, and carefully tailored to each personβs unique needs.
I specialize in treating patients with a diverse array of psychiatric conditions, including trauma-related disorders, psychosis, mood disorders, and neurodevelopmental disorders. My distinctive professional background includes providing emergency care for youth experiencing psychiatric crises as well as providing inpatient care for justice-involved individuals facing acute mental health challenges.
My extensive training has equipped me with skills in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and supporting individuals through their most difficult times. Beyond my clinical practice, I contribute to research examining trauma and its manifestations across development. I also have special interests in medical ethics, recognizing trauma among neurodiverse youth, and the complex psychological impact of commercial sexual exploitation.
I have published numerous articles in leading peer-reviewed journals and I have given several presentations at national meetings of prominent medical organizations. I am passionate about educating fellows, medical students, and undergraduates about important issues at the intersection of psychiatry, the legal system, and bioethics. As one of the few clinicians who is triple board certified in adult, child, and forensic psychiatry, I have a deep understanding of the nuanced relationships among child development, mental health, and challenging life experiences.
My journey in psychiatry is driven by a desire to help individuals successfully navigate the intricacies of their emotions and minds during their most vulnerable moments and improve the systems designed to serve their needs.
